Grant Support

Grants to Social Housing Institutions (SHIs)

Grants to SHIs are given or provided to qualifying Social Housing Institutions (SHIs) for the purpose of institutional development and capacity building, to enable them to produce viable social housing projects.

Objectives of the Grant Programme

To provide assistance to selected SHIs to enable them to meet maximum performance requirements at their different stages of development.
To contribute to the capacitation and turning around of SHIs in distress.
To provide support to Social Housing Institutions targeted at ensuring project viability and institutional sustainability.

Application Criteria

Applications need to be registered entities with plans to develop social housing or;
Applicants need to be established SHIs with existing housing stock under management or;
Applicants need to be established SHIs with housing projects under construction.

Support to SHI's will cover the following areas of assistance:

Enhancement of project planning, design, project management and implementation.
Procurement of equipment for the achievement of sound organisational management (internal) and property management (external).
Enhancement of internal capacity and competence in relation to project planning, design, project management and implementation.
Enhancement of service levels through support for tenant training and education, tenant liaison, and tenant relations management.
Enhancement of institutional leadership and financial management capacity.
Support for the procurement of equipment and software for the achievement of sound organisational management and property management.
