LOCAL MUNICIPALITY URBAN DEVELOPMENT ZONESCity of JohannesburgThe City of Johannesburg has also designated an UDZ of approximately 18 km2 (see map below), which includes both Johannesburg inner city and a number of surrounding and adjacent areas and suburbs. The UDZ is part of a larger strategy to make Johannesburg a world class city by 2030. An issue that is of serious concern to developers and property owners within the city is that of sectional title. It has been brought to the City's attention. Despite this concern there were already 35 confirmed registrations for the scheme by September 2005, indicating that the UDZ scheme has thus far been very well received. The UDZs also have to form part of both the provincial spatial development framework (SDF) and the City's Integrated Development Programme (IDP) and its own local SDF . References and Resources
